How do I choose the right ring size?

You can have your finger measured at a jeweller's or use our printable virtual ring sizer. For the most accurate result, measure your finger when it is neither too warm nor too cold. You can download our size guide here. If you are unsure, our team is on hand to advise you.

Ruby

Ruby is a promise.

The stone of kings and vows. From Burma to Mozambique, every ruby carries the earth it was born from.

Our rubies are natural, chosen for the intensity of their red rather than for perfect transparency. In vermeil, ruby reveals itself as rosé; in solid 18-carat gold, it takes on its classic deep red.

From delicate rosé to deep red, we choose each ruby for the beauty of its colour, then set it to last.

All your questions about ruby men's rings

The questions we are asked most often about ruby men's rings: materials, care, symbolism and styling advice.

Why choose a ruby ring for men?

Ruby is a precious gemstone associated with strength, passion and prosperity. Wearing a ruby ring symbolises charisma and determination. In men's fine jewellery, it stands apart through its unique brilliance and timeless appeal, complementing both elegant attire and more relaxed styles.

What is the significance of a ruby ring?

Ruby symbolises love, courage and power. In certain cultures, it is believed to bring protection and success. Gifting a ruby ring is often associated with a powerful declaration, particularly for engagements or milestone anniversaries.

How do I care for and clean a men's ruby ring?

To preserve the brilliance of your ruby ring, clean it with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Avoid chemical products and impacts that could damage the stone. Store it separately in a jewellery box to prevent scratches, and protect it from extreme temperatures.

What is the difference between a natural ruby and a synthetic ruby?

A natural ruby is mined from the earth and features natural inclusions. A synthetic ruby is created in a laboratory with the same chemical properties but without visible flaws. Natural rubies are rarer and more precious, whilst synthetic rubies are more affordable.

How can I tell if a ruby is genuine?

A genuine ruby displays natural inclusions visible under a loupe and fluorescence under UV light. A gemological laboratory test can confirm its authenticity. Our ruby rings are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity upon request.

Which metal should I choose for a men's ruby ring: gold, silver or platinum?

The choice of metal depends on your style and budget. Yellow gold enhances the warmth of the ruby, white gold offers a modern, understated look, silver is more accessible and on-trend, and platinum delivers superior durability.

Are ruby rings suitable as a wedding band or engagement ring?

Yes, a ruby ring can symbolise intense and enduring love, making it a beautiful choice for a wedding band or engagement ring. Paired with gold or platinum, it becomes an exceptional piece of jewellery, rich with meaning.

What is the symbolism of ruby across different cultures?

Throughout history, ruby has been regarded as the king's stone, symbolising power and protection. In India, it is believed to bring prosperity, whilst in Western culture it is linked to passion and eternal love.

Can I wear a ruby ring every day?

Yes, ruby has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it highly resistant to scratches. However, to avoid impacts, it is advisable to remove your ring during physical activities or manual work.

What are the benefits of ruby in crystal healing?

In crystal healing, ruby is an energising stone said to promote self-confidence, vitality and positive energy. It is also associated with protection against negative influences, and is believed to strengthen passion and motivation.

What is the difference between a ruby and a red sapphire?

Ruby and red sapphire belong to the same mineral family (corundum). It is solely the presence of chromium that distinguishes a ruby. A red sapphire is in fact a ruby referred to by another name.

Is ruby rarer than diamond?

Yes, high-quality rubies are rarer than diamonds, particularly those of an intense, pure red. Their price can exceed that of a diamond owing to their scarcity and strong demand within the precious gemstone market.
