Silver can oxidise when exposed to air and moisture. To preserve its brilliance:

• Clean with a soft silver polishing cloth
• Remove your jewellery before showering, exercising, or doing household chores
• Avoid contact with perfume and cosmetic products
• Store each piece separately in a box or anti-tarnish pouch

For emeralds, avoid ultrasonic cleaning. Mayuri Paris offers a professional polishing service.

Silver tarnishes on contact with sulphur found in air, perspiration, and certain products. This oxidation forms a dark patina on the surface. It is a natural phenomenon that does not affect the quality of the piece. Buff with a silver polishing cloth or soak in warm water with bicarbonate of soda to restore the shine. Vermeil is more resistant to tarnishing thanks to its gold layer.

Vermeil is more resistant to tarnishing than plain silver, thanks to its protective gold layer. However, this layer can wear over time with friction. To maximise its longevity, avoid contact with water and chemicals, and do not wear your vermeil jewellery to sleep. With proper care, a vermeil piece retains its brilliance for many years.
