Caring for Your Jewelry
Silver and Vermeil Jewelry

Silver and Vermeil Jewelry

Silver is a living metal that naturally develops a patina over time, while vermeil combines 925 sterling silver with a thick layer of 18-carat gold. These noble materials deserve gentle, regular care to preserve their radiance.

To keep your pieces in perfect condition:

  • Put your jewelry on last, after perfume, creams and makeup
  • Avoid contact with chemicals and cosmetics
  • Remove your jewelry during housework or physical activity
  • Take it off before sleeping to prevent snagging or distortion
  • Never wear it in the shower, bath or swimming pool
  • Store in the original Mayuri case, away from moisture and friction
  • Clean only with the chamois cloth provided and lukewarm, lightly soapy water
  • Do not repeatedly bend or force bangles, as this weakens the metal
Gold Jewelry with Precious Stones

Gold Jewelry with Precious Stones

Gold is durable, yet still requires particular care, especially when set with precious stones. Over time, residue and daily wear can dull its brilliance or weaken the setting.

Good daily habits:

  • Remove your rings before washing your hands, sleeping or exercising
  • Protect your jewelry from water, lotions and perfumes
  • Store in a dry place, away from light and friction

Advice from our atelier:
Signs of wear are entirely normal. A jeweler can polish your piece to restore its original brilliance. We recommend professional polishing every 3 to 5 years.

How to Clean Your Gold Ring

Gold jewelry should be cleaned with a gentle, non-abrasive solution. A mixture of lukewarm water and mild soap works perfectly for yellow, white and rose gold. Below you will find care advice tailored to each type of gold.

Yellow Gold
Yellow gold is easy to clean with simple, gentle products:

  • Mild dish soap or Marseille soap with lukewarm water

How to proceed:

  • Soak the piece for approximately 20 minutes
  • Rinse with cold water
  • Dry gently with a microfibre cloth or the chamois cloth provided

White Gold
White gold requires more delicate care due to its rhodium plating.

Use only:

  • Lukewarm water and Marseille soap
  • Clean and dry gently as described above

Why this matters:
White gold is naturally yellow in its raw state. Its white appearance comes from a rhodium coating that fades over time. Re-plating every 2 to 3 years helps preserve its color and protection. Polishing is always required before a new layer of rhodium is applied.

Rose Gold
The distinctive hue of rose gold comes from its copper content, ensuring a vibrant color that endures over time. No external plating is required.

You can safely use the same method as for yellow gold.

  • Soak in lukewarm soapy water for approximately 10 minutes
  • Rinse with cold water
  • Pat dry with a microfibre cloth or the chamois cloth

Tip:

  • Clean regularly and gently to maintain their brilliance

Emeralds
Emeralds require particular care. Most are oil-treated to enhance their clarity, which makes them sensitive to certain cleaning methods.

Care tips:

  • Soak briefly (2 to 3 minutes maximum) in lukewarm soapy water
  • Never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner
  • Avoid thermal shock (sudden temperature changes)
  • Handle with great care in everyday wear

Please note:
If you are unsure how to care for your emerald, we recommend consulting a professional jeweler.
